Founded in 2019, Sigo Seguros is available in Texas and offers a bilingual, mobile-first platform that simplifies the auto insurance purchasing process.  

The Role

As Underwriter, you will support Sigo’s risk review and management of underwriting procedures for our Texas personal auto insurance program. It will be your mission to manage a profitable product while identifying growth opportunities to meet the needs of traditionally-underserved communities in the US. The Underwriter will support in the development of underwriting guidelines and processes. The ideal candidate will bring insurance expertise and a frustration with the status quo to this exciting opportunity to lead a category-defining insurance offering. This role reports directly to our Vice President of Insurance.



  • Review files and follow up with customers regarding underwriting needs to help meet underwriting profitability targets.
  • Provide input on product roadmap and feedback on technology to drive continuous innovation in insurance product underwriting.
  • Help develop the underwriting function to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Support maintenance of underwriting guidelines and developing onboarding for future underwriters.



  • 1+ years of experience in underwriting.
  • Auto insurance experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work closely in cross-functional teams.
  • Lead and thrive in non-hierarchical settings.
  • Scrappy, self-starting hustler, able to get things done in an unstructured startup environment
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred. US work authorization required.
